TARBORO — The Wilson Preparatory Academy boys basketball team climbed to 11-1 with a 50-22 triumph over North East Carolina Prep on Thursday.

David Ellis had 15 points to pace the Tigers as Jamarion Dove had nine. George Nesstor chipped in six.

WPA travels to Wayne Prep on Tuesday.

Pittman’s 23 guides Wildcats to victory

Behind the 23 points of Drew Pittman, the Springfield boys basketball won their seventh game in eight attempts this season with a 44-35 road win at Speight on Thursday.

Daidien Sutton had eight points for Springfield, with Alex Speight notching seven.

Springfield visits Elm City on Tuesday.

Lady Cougars down Springfield 30-20

The Speight girls basketball team used 11 points from T’Johonna Harris on Thursday afternoon to claim a 30-20 victory against visiting Springfield.

Kamyla Harris added 10 points for Speight (3-5), which is at Elm City on Tuesday.

WCA dropped by RMA, 34-6

ROCKY MOUNT — Held scoreless in the first and fourth quarters, the Wilson Christian girls basketball team couldn’t get much going in a 34-6 loss at Rocky Mount Prep on Thursday.

Melia Hughes led the Lady Chargers (2-9), who host Winterville Christ Covenant on Friday, with four points.

 

Lady Vikings hold down Dragons

Connie Pleasants had 18 points and Jewel Brewington had 13 to help lead the Elm City girls basketball team to a 37-19 victory over visiting South Edgecombe on Thursday.

Mallory Jenkins tallied six for Elm City (7-1), which hosts Speight on Tuesday.

Elm City nudged by South Edgecombe

Despite the 24 points of Rickey Dixon, the Elm City boys basketball team fell short of defending its home court with a 52-48 loss to South Edgecombe on Thursday.

Elm City (1-7) hosts Speight on Tuesday.

Lady Bucks drub Toisnot 30-8

Scoring the first 12 points Thursday, the Forest Hills girls basketball team never trailed in rolling to a 30-8 win over Toisnot.

TiAsia Taylor had 10 points for Forest Hills (7-1), while Jamaria Freeman added nine.

Ainsley Cato notched four points for Toisnot.

Forest Hills is the guest of West Edgecombe on Tuesday.
