A $57 million expansion is planned at Merck’s Wilson campus to manufacture the RotaTeq vaccine. Another 55 new jobs will also be added.
The vaccine protects babies from rotavirus infections.
The announcement was made this morning at the plant on Merck Road.
This is the second expansion for Merck announced this year.
In July, Merck announced plans to create another 34 jobs here and invest $30 million as part of a larger expansion.
Merck said in July it would be investing $650 million and creating more than 400 jobs over the next five years through a new production facility in Durham and expanded packaging operations in Wilson.
