Junior William Powell had a big week in two sports for Greenfield School last week, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

On Monday, William placed third at the 1-A/2-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference boys cross-country meet, helping the Knights to a third-place team finish. On Friday, he knocked in a pair of goals as a defender to lead the Knights to a 6-0 defeat of Salisbury North Hills Christian in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A boys soccer quarterfinals.

The son of Melodie and James Powell of Wilson, William has a weighted GPA of more than 4.0 at Greenfield, where he is vice president of Student Government and a member of the school’s Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, National Honor Society and Youth and Government. William also plays tennis and swims and previously played basketball at Greenfield.

He has served as a volunteer at both Imagination Station and Diversified Opportunities, Inc. William is active in the youth group at First Baptist Church.
