Would commissioners let us divert funds, too?

Re: “Animal shelter is ‘crumbling,’ but does county care?” Times editorial, Saturday:

The county commissioners who willfully and continually misled us about our tax dollars going to a new animal shelter committed fraud. If not legally, then certainly at least practically.

They have been asked, warned and pleaded with to no avail.

They have been silent, arrogant, pompous and unresponsive in the face of their blatant fraud and deceit.

I propose we:

• A. Withhold our tax dollars to fund legal action against them individually and force them to replace the missing, necessary amount to finish the shelter.

• B. If they try to penalize us for withholding those funds, give them a dose of their own excuse and tell them our money went to dinners or shopping or car payments, but we might start doing better in the future, so we are not to be held accountable. Let’s see if they accept that excuse as we are expected to accept it from them.

I, along with others, have personally addressed them and they sit quietly and ignore our concern and frustration.

Our county commissioners have embraced the “Let them eat cake” policy — assuming half of them even understand this reference.
