Wilson schools announce new administrators

Wilson County Schools has announced the hiring of a new principal and nine new assistant principals for the 2017-18 school year.

“Decisions regarding transfers of existing staff are made throughout the year by the administration,” Wilson County Schools spokeswoman Amber Lynch said. “The board is required to be informed of these decisions.”

Mark Holley, formerly principal at Fike High School, has been transferred to a new position as principal of Daniels Learning Center. Holley has 21 years experience in education.

Jenny Hayes, formerly the assistant principal at Hunt High School, has been transferred to Stantonsburg Elementary School as the acting principal. Hayes has 18 years of experience in education.

Ronnia Cockrell, formerly the principal at Toisnot Middle School, has been transferred to a position as assistant principal at Daniels Learning Center. Cockrell has 29 years experience in education.

Denise Luper, formerly an assistant principal at Fike High School, has been reassigned to Hunt High School as an assistant principal. Luper has 26 years of experience in education.

Tonja Harris, formerly the principal at Vick Elementary School, has been transferred to Jones Elementary School as a school improvement coach. Harris has 19 years of experience in education.

Annette Faison, formerly the assistant principal at Barnes Elementary School, has been reassigned as the assistant principal at Elm City Elementary School. Faison has 16 years of experience.

David Lott, formerly an English teacher at Hunt High School, has been hired as the assistant principal at Vick Elementary School. Lott has 14 years of experience in education.

Gavin Meiring,formerly the principal at Jones Elementary School, has been transferred to Fike High School as its assistant principal. Meiring has 13 years of experience in education.

Samantha Charles-Dixon, formerly the assistant principal at Toisnot Middle School, has been reassigned to Fike High School as its assistant principal. Charles-Dixon has 11 years of experience in education.

Kimberly Newkirk, formerly the assistant principal at Fike High School, has been reassigned to Toisnot Middle School as its assistant principal. Newkirk has 11 years of experience in education.
