Seven Wilson Community College students have received Golden Leaf Foundation scholarships for the spring 2019 semester.

Scholarship recipients are Beverly Barnes, Florisela Gutierrez-Alcantar, Hannah Strickland, Temika Hyman, Stephanie Everette, Betty Johnson and Candice Hicks. The same seven students received Golden Leaf scholarship funding for the fall 2018 semester.

The Golden Leaf Foundation Scholarship is not limited to tuition, but can be used for other needs associated with student’s current courses. These scholarships are awarded each semester to continuing education and curriculum students.

In order to be eligible for the Golden Leaf Foundation Scholarship, students must reside in a qualifying county and have scholastic merit.

The foundation was established in 1999 to administer funds from North Carolina’s share of a multi-state tobacco company lawsuit settlement to benefit the state’s rural and economically distressed communities. For more information, visit www.goldenleaf.org.
