GOLDSBORO — Authorities have jailed a Wayne County woman on allegations of sexual activity with a teenage boy.

Jessica Lynn Uzzell, 26, of Tarklin Drive north of Goldsboro, is charged with first-degree statutory rape and first-degree statutory sexual offense, Maj. Richard Lewis of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said in a Friday news release.

Deputies filed charges against Uzzell after learning of an alleged 2016 incident in a Wayne County home when the victim was 15 years old.

“Information was recently received which was instrumental in assisting with the completion of this investigation,” Lewis said in the release. “The defendant and the victim were known acquaintances at the time of the incident.”

Detective Scott Peele investigated the case and the sheriff’s office’s Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team assisted with the arrest.

Uzzell was booked into the Wayne County Detention Center in Goldsboro under a $750,000 secured bond.
