Enjoy a safe trick-or-treat event at Halloween Treats at the Wilson Botanical Gardens Sunday, Oct. 28, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Child-friendly organizations will set up stations throughout the gardens and give out candy and information from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Take your own candy bag or bucket for trick-or-treating.

There will be a costume parade with the Fike High School’s marching band and spooky storytelling with local teller Rebecca Tighe to finish the evening.

A pumpkin contest will be open to adults and children. Carved or decorated pumpkins can be taken to the gardens by 5:15 that evening and judged for prizes.

Last year’s event was canceled due to rain. This year, the event will move inside the Ag Center if the weather looks bad.

Strollers are welcome, but be advised there are some uneven surfaces in the gardens. Pets and glass containers are not allowed. As this is a child-friendly event, please, no scary, violent or gory costumes.

Wilson Botanical Gardens is located at 1806 Goldsboro St., at the Ag Center.
