I am trying to make contact with a couple of men I served with in the Navy back in 1959. We were in W Division aboard the USS Intrepid (CVA-11). I would have been about 20 at the time and they would have been approximately the same age.
Both of these men enlisted in the Navy from Wilson. They are John D. Hardison and William R. Honeycutt.
I will be 79 years old in November, Honeycutt and Hardison would be roughly the same age if still alive. My quest to reach out to them began with a review of my Intrepid cruise book for 1959 — it’s like a high school yearbook that the ship’s crew puts together on an extended cruise. In the back of the book is a roster of all the crew members with their home of record at time of enlistment.
My name is Robert Leonard and I live in Goleta, California, most of the year. We also have a cabin outside of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, where my mother was from.
Any information you can provide to assist in my quest would be much appreciated. I can be reached at email@example.com.
