The Wilson Tobs were idle Wednesday but, with the Peninsula Pilots' home game against the Edenton Steamers rained out, the Tobs neither gained nor lost any ground in the standings.

The Tobs, 12-5 in the Coastal Plain League second half, maintained a 2 1/2-game lead over the Pilots in the North Division. Peninsula, the first-half champion, is scheduled to visit Edenton on Thursday while the Tobs host North foe Martinsville for a 7 p.m. game.

The Tobs and Pilots get together on Friday in Peninsula and end the season series Tuesday at Fleming Stadium. Barring unforeseen calamity befalling the Tobs, they should move into the Petitt Cup playoffs and play the Pilots in the North Division playoff game Sunday, Aug. 5, in Hampton, Virginia.
