HOLLY SPRINGS — A quick start helped the Wilson Prep varsity boys basketball team pull away to a 68-33 triumph Tuesday at Southern Wake Academy in the Tigers’ Capital City Conference opener.

Righteous Tomlin scored 15 points to lead Wilson Prep, which outscored the Lions 19-6 in the first quarter on the way to its fourth win in nine games. Shakei Hines had 11 points and eight rebounds while Sean Sanders added 10 points for Wilson Prep, which will host defending conference champion Thales Academy of Rolesville on Thursday.

Wilson Prep coasts past Southern Wake

HOLLY SPRINGS — Trinity Mobley scored 20 points and Jadore Lucas-Barnes added a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds to help the Wilson Prep varsity girls basketball team coast to a 38-17 victory Tuesday at Southern Wake Academy.

The Lady Tigers broke open a close game at halftime by outscoring their hosts 26-10 in the second half.

Mobley added four assists, two rebounds and a steal to her stat line while Tyanna Watkins scored eight points and Haley Waddell grabbed eight rebounds.

The Lady Tigers (2-5) will host Thales Academy of Rolesville on Thursday afternoon.
