Zy’ree Wilder helped his Beddingfield High varsity boys basketball team get off to a winning start in 2018 last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Zy’ree, a 6-foot-1 junior forward, had eight points as the Bruins blasted North Pitt 81-49 in the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener for both teams Tuesday.
Zy’ree has a 3.2 GPA at Beddingfield where he takes honors courses. He is the junior class president for Beddingfield’s Student Government Association and is a member of the school’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He also is a member of the Bruins cross-country and track and field teams.
The son of Tywanda Evans and Willie Wilder of Wilson, Zy’ree volunteers for the Salvation Army of Wilson’s Boys and Girls Club and plays for the East Carolina Junior Volleyball Club in Greenville.
