Will Whitley played a central role in his Wilson Christian Academy varsity baseball team’s key win Friday, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Will helped his classmates celebrate their Senior Night 13-3 victory over Bethel Christian drilling a pair of doubles and knocking in three runs. He also earned the pitching win by throwing three innings of relief and escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, when the outcome was still in question.

For the season, Will is batting .370 and is 2-1 on the mound with a 3.60 ERA.

The son of Betsy and Hilton Whitley of Stantonsburg, Will has a 3.97 weighted GPA while taking honors courses at Wilson Christian. He is the Senior Class vice president and has played varsity baseball all four years for the Chargers.

He works part-time at Omega Sports in Wilson and during the summer for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department. Will plans on majoring in real estate in college.

He plays showcase baseball with Wilson County Bulldogs and Next Level Orioles and likes to hunt and fish in his spare time.
