Senior Whitney Bissette helped her Community Christian School varsity girls basketball team win three straight games to conclude the regular season last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Whitney averaged 5.3 points as the Lady Cyclones defeated Faith Christian, ENCSD and Oakwood to finish with a 15-7 record overall and 5-5 and in third place in the 1-A/2-A Coastal Independents Conference.
The daughter of Malisha and Warren Bissette of Lucama, Whitney has a 4.39 GPA and is No. 6 in her senior class at CCS while taking all honors courses. She is the vice president of the school’s chapter of the Beta Club and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Gameday Club. Whitney also plays soccer and golf and ran cross-country for the Lady Cyclones.
She teaches Sunday school to youngsters ages 3-5 at Shiloh International Pentecostal Holiness Church and volunteers at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church’s Community Soup Kitchen. Whitney has served as a volunteer coach and counselor for the Wilson County Youth Athletic Association summer basketball camp as well as a volunteer youth basketball coach for Kenly Parks and Recreation Department.
