Samantha Davis helped her North Johnston High softball team reach the quarterfinals of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 2-A playoffs last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Samantha, a junior first baseman, drove in a pair of runs in the Lady Panthers’ 4-3 win over Currituck County in the third round Tuesday and then was 1 for 2 as North Johnston bowed out of the playoffs with a 6-5 loss at defending state 2-A champion South Granville on Friday.

For the season, she posted a .383 batting average and fielded at a .944 clip.

The daughter of Heather and Matt Davis of Kenly, Samantha has a 4.333 weighted GPA while taking honors courses as well as College and Career Promise courses at Johnston Community College. She is ranked third in her junior class.

Samantha is a member of North Johnston’s chapters of National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America, for which she is parliamentarian-elect. She also played tennis for the Lady Panthers.

Samantha is active at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church near Glendale and previously went on a church mission trip to West Virginia.

She works part-time at Burney’s Sweets and More in Smithfield.
