McKenna Griffin was a vital cog in helping the Wilson Christian varsity volleyball team to a pair of wins last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
In helping the Lady Chargers to a 2-0 week that included a sweep of rival Raleigh Friendship Christian in their North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A District 3 opener, McKenna, a junior, had nine kills, five digs and a pair of blocks in pacing Wilson Christian to a three-set sweep of Friendship on Friday.
Last Tuesday against Durham Fellowship Baptist, McKenna supplied nine kills and three assists as the Lady Chargers were victorious in four sets.
The holder of a 3.8 grade point average, McKenna is a three-sport athlete at Wilson Christian, playing basketball in the winter and softball in the spring. The daughter of Greg Griffin and Michelle Pittman of Wilson, McKenna is active in Wilson Christian’s Yearbook Club, takes pre-calculus and works for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department as a scorekeeper for baseball and basketball.
McKenna also participates in travel volleyball, playing with the Wilson Elite Volleyball Club’s 16U team.
