Kaelyn Wall helped her Greenfield School varsity girls basketball team to a big victory last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Kaelyn, a freshman point guard, led the Lady Knights past Wayne Christian 51-41 in the first round of the 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference tournament Monday, marking Greenfield’s first postseason victory in more than five years. She scored 13 points, including a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter, to go with nine rebounds, five steals and three assists as the Lady Knights halted a five-game losing streak.
The Lady Knights would lose to top-seeded Wayne Country Day in Thursday’s semifinals but Kaelyn again led them with 10 points. She finished the season as Greenfield’s leader in points per game (13.4), rebounds, steals, assists and blocked shots.
The daughter of Rita and Bruce Wall of Elm City, Kaelyn has a 4.54 GPA at Greenfield, where she takes honors courses. She is a member of the school’s chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as its Sign Language Club. Kaelyn also plays volleyball and soccer for the Lady Knights.
She has served as a community service volunteer for United Way and plays for the Wilson Elite travel basketball team.
