Senior Jay Grissom helped his Wilson Christian Academy varsity boys soccer team pick up two key victories last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Jay, the Chargers’ center back, anchored the defensive effort in their 3-0 win at Bethel Christian in Kinston on Thursday. He continued his stellar defense as well as scoring a goal in Wilson Christian’s 5-2 triumph Friday at Hilltop Christian in Fuquay-Varina. The Chargers finished as the top team in the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region’s District 3.
Jay entered his senior year with a 4.7 weighted GPA and was ranked No. 6 in his class. He is a member of Wilson Christian’s chapter of the National Honor Society and also plays basketball for the Chargers.
The son of Nancy and Jerry Grissom of Fountain, Jay has made the Principal’s List for academics each of his last two years at Wilson Christian.
He worked part-time as a lifeguard at Greenville Country Club last summer and will serve as a volunteer at the Fountain Fire Department.
Jay played travel basketball for the Respect Raptors of Greenville last season.
