Junior guard Jah’Asia Pernell helped her Fike High varsity girls basketball team get off to a 3-0 start last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
As the Lady Demons’ “sixth man,” Jah’Asia averaged 5.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in Fike’s wins over South Granville, North Pitt and East Wake. In Tuesday’s win against Cleveland this week, she scored a game-high 18 points.
The daughter of Gale Clark and John Pernell of Wilson, Jah’Asia has a 3.71 grade point average while taking honors courses at Fike. She was just inducted into the National Honor Society and is also a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy. Jah’Asia sings in the Fike chorus and plays volleyball and soccer for the Lady Demons
She plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association ’99 Explosion U18 girls team.
