Hunt High senior Evan Lee was a major cog in the Warriors winning their first Wilson Times Track Classic championship last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Evan was part of all four winning relay teams for Hunt, including the 4x400-meter quartet, which knocked 11 seconds off its previous best time to win and bring the Warriors from five points down into a tie with Nash Central for the boys team title.
Evan, the son of Jan and Joel Lee of Wilson, has a 4.04 weighted GPA at Hunt, where he takes Advanced Placement and honors courses. He is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society and serves as a academic tutor. Evan also ran indoor track and was on the cross-country team for three years but missed last fall due to injury.
He works as a lifeguard at Recreation Park pool in the summer and was just approved as the assistant scoutmaster for Troop 4 of Wilson. Evan, who will run track and cross-country at Barton College, recently competed in the Rock ‘N Roll Raleigh Marathon, where he finished 78th out of more than 3,000 competitors.
