During a trying season for her Beddingfield High varsity girls basketball team, Earth Pender continued to be a solid performer for the Lady Bruins last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Earth, a 5-foot-10 senior post player, averaged seven points and eight rebounds in the Lady Bruins’ two games last week.
She has a 4.54 weighted GPA and is ranked third in her class at Beddingfield, where she is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program. Earth is the student council senior class president as well as the senior class president for Student Government Association. She is a member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and Future Farmers of America. Earth also played volleyball at Beddingfield.
The daughter of Kimberly and Arnold Pender of Saratoga, Earth is a Save the Youth tutor, served as a volunteer worker at N.C. State University’s Engineering Camp in Raleigh last summer and teaches piano lessons for free to kids in her community.
She is a finalist for the Ronald Reagan Scholarship and plans to study biological engineering at either N.C. State or N.C. A&T State.
