Despite a pair of losses for the Community Christian School varsity baseball team last week, Cyclones senior Drew Oliver was solid at the plate and on the mound, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
In both games — a 12-6 loss to Greenfield on Monday and a 10-6 defeat against Pungo on Thursday — Drew pitched a combined 7 1/3 innings and didn’t allow an earned run. At the plate, he batted .625 (5 for 8) with 3 runs scored and two RBIs, including a 4-for-4 showing with a double against Pungo.
For the season, Drew leads CCS with a .429 batting average and 12 runs scored.
The son of Donna and Greg Oliver of Wilson, Drew has a 3.61 GPA at CCS. He is a member of the school’s chapter of Future Farmers of America.
Drew has volunteered at the Brian Center in Wilson and works part-time at Parker’s Barbecue.
He previously played travel baseball for the Wilson Cyclones.
