Fike High junior Chase Eaton qualified for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 3-A indoor track and field championships at a meet last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
At Wednesday’s meet at Franklinton High, Chase ran the 55-meter hurdles in 8.5 seconds, which qualified him for the state 3-A championship meet Feb. 8 in Winston-Salem.
The son of Beverly Gray of Wilson, Chase has a 4.245 weighted GPA while taking all honors and Advanced Placement courses at Fike. He is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society and plays football and runs outdoor track for the Golden Demons.
Chase is on the Wilson Family YMCA’s Junior Board and has served as a volunteer for such events as the YMCA’s Robin Run, the Wilson Parks and Recreation Department’s Train of Lights and at Wilson Medical Center as well as in the concession stand for Fike home basketball games.
He is an active member of Peace Church in Wilson.
