Casey Bunting helped her Wilson Christian Academy softball team continue its domination in the North Carolina Christian School Association last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Casey, a senior first baseman, batted .714 (5 for 7) with a double, a home run and eight RBIs as the Lady Chargers won all three games in the NCCSA double-elimination state tournament to capture their sixth straight state title. For the season, she hit .705 with eight homers and 39 RBIs.
The daughter of Terry and Lee Bunting of Elm City, Casey has a 3.9 GPA at Wilson Christian. She will continue softball career at Guilford College, where she plans to major in business administration and minor in veterinary medicine.
Casey is active at Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Elm City and plays travel softball for the Carolina Wildcats.
