Caroline Stone helped her Greenfield School varsity girls basketball team win a state playoff game for the first time in seven years last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Caroline, a sophomore small forward, had eight points as the Lady Knights rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat Pungo Academy 45-41 in the first round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A playoffs Tuesday at Greenfield. It was the Lady Knights’ first victory in the NCISAA playoffs since 2011, the last time they reached the postseason.
The daughter of Lisa and Russell Stone of Wilson, Caroline has a 4.67 weighted GPA at Greenfield, where she is a member of Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy, the YMCA Youth and Government program and the Buddies Not Bullies club. She also plays volleyball and soccer and swims for the Lady Knights.
Caroline has served as a volunteer in the United Way of Wilson’s youth volunteer program, helping out with the Save A Youth program and The SPOT. She has also been a volunteer youth basketball coach for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department.
Caroline plays volleyball for the Wilson Elite club team.
