Junior forward Camille Ruiz helped her Hunt High varsity girls soccer team get off to a winning start in 3-A Big East Conference play last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Camille scored a goal in the Lady Warriors 6-0 victory at Northern Nash on Monday. Hunt followed that with a 4-1 win at home against Rocky Mount on Friday. For the season, Camille has seven goals and three assists.
The daughter of Alicia and Ed Ruiz of Wilson, Camille has a 3.7 unweighted GPA at Hunt, where she takes all Advanced Placement and honors courses. She is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also in the Junior Pink Ladies and Club UNIFY.
Camille volunteers with Wilson Youth Council and serves as a volunteer youth soccer coach for Wilson Parks and Recreation Department. During the summer she teaches swim lessons at Recreation Park pool.
Camille plays for the Wilson Youth Soccer Association’s Explosion 18U girls team.
