Bryce Hughes helped his Wilson Christian Academy varsity baseball team return to the state championship game last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Bryce, one of five seniors on the Chargers roster, helped Wilson Christian, the defending North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A champion, win a pair of playoff games before it fell 5-1 to Wilmington Christian in Saturday’s championship game.
The son of Michaelynn and Bryan Hughes of Wilson, Bryce has a 3.44 GPA at Wilson Christian. He also plays soccer for the Chargers and previously was a member of the school’s choir and band.
Bryce is active at Peace Church in Wilson, playing guitar in the church band and helping out in the children’s church.
He works part-time as an electrician’s assistant.
Bryce plans to attend Wilson Community College and study electrical engineering.
