Sophomore Bailey Davis helped her SouthWest Edgecombe High varsity girls basketball team win its fourth straight Edgecombe County Holiday Classic tournament title last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Bailey, a 5-foot-8 wing, scored 13 points as the Lady Cougars ripped Tarboro 63-21 in Thursday’s semifinals then had a game-high 18 in Friday’s championship game 75-32 defeat of host North Edgecombe. For the season, she is averaging 13.3 points per game in helping SouthWest to a 6-3 record.
The daughter of Jamie and Michael Davis of Tarboro, Bailey has a 3.6 GPA at SouthWest Edgecombe, where she takes honors English 2. She is a member of the school’s Letterman Club.
Bailey is active at Tarboro Church of Christ, where she helps as a volunteer reading to residents at Golden Living Center in Tarboro.
She also does volunteer work at Martin Millennium Academy in Tarboro.
