Senior Avery Rose Brown helped her Fike High girls tennis team to a pair of victories to start 3-A Big East Conference play last week, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Playing in the No. 2 singles spot, Avery Rose won both her matches as the Lady Demons blanked Southern Nash 9-0 at home on Tuesday and won by the same score Wednesday at Franklinton to improve to 7-0 at the time. Avery Rose pushed her singles record to 5-1.
The daughter of Renee and Robbie Brown of Wilson, Avery Rose has a 3.5 GPA while taking Advanced Placement and honors courses. She also is taking online courses from Wilson Community College.
She is a member of Fike’s chapter of National Honor Society and previously was in the Student Booster Club and the Health Club at Fike.
Avery Rose has volunteered her time by reading to students at New Hope Elementary and with the Special Olympics in Wilson.
She is active at First Baptist Church and works part-time at Dick’s Hot Dog Stand.
