Austin Worley helped his Beddingfield High varsity baseball team continue its best start in four seasons last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.

Austin, a junior, was the winning pitcher in the Bruins’ 12-6 victory Wednesday at Goldsboro, striking out six and giving up three hits in four innings. He also went 2 for 4 with an RBI at the plate. In Friday’s 11-1 win at South Creek in Robersonville, Austin went 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base as the Bruins won their seventh game in eight outings.

The son of Amy and David Worley of Black Creek, Austin has a 3.2 GPA at Beddingfield, where he takes honors English and Advanced Placement U.S. history. He is a member of the school’s chapter of Future Farmers of America.

Austin works part-time at Panera Bread as well as AW Electrical, operated by his grandparents, and played for the Wilson American Legion Post 13 junior baseball team last summer.

He is an avid fisherman who has his own YouTube.com channel, “The Reel Life NC,” that has 360 subscribers with nearly 50,000 views.
