Senior Abbey Rogers helped her Fike High girls swim team stay unbeaten in the 3-A Big East Conference at last week’s meet, making her this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Abbey placed second in the 500-yard freestyle and fourth in the 200 freestyle. She was also part of the Lady Demons fourth-place 200 freestyle relay team as they won their fifth conference meet this season.
The daughter of Deb and Tim Rogers of Wilson, Abbey has a 4.95 weighted GPA and ranks fifth in her senior class at Fike, where she is enrolled in the International Baccalaureate program.
She is a member of the school’s chapter of National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society as well as being part of the leadership team for Fike’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Abbey is a member of Wilson Youth Council, working on service projects in the community and is on her youth group’s leadership team at First Baptist Church in Wilson. She was the coach for the Girls on the Run program at Vick Elementary.
Abbey worked as a lifeguard at Recreation Park pool over the summer and was a member of the Wilson Barracudas swim team from seventh grade until last year.
