"Your baby probably isn't going to make it. You need to prepare yourselves"
These are the words that were said to Josh and Miles Dail by Maternal Fetal Medicine at 22 weeks into Miles’ pregnancy.
Duke MFM diagnosed baby girl Finley with IUGR or intrauterine growth restriction; she also had Absent End Diastolic Flow (AEDF) where the blood flow was absent on the diastolic end. The flow would eventually reverse at which point she would need to be delivered. Baby Finley was 2 weeks behind growth wise because she wasn't getting blood carrying oxygen and nutrients she needed.
Josh and Miles were told that their baby wasn't at a viable weight yet for intervention so they were sent home to she if she would make it.
As soon as baby Finley was at or near 500 grams, Miles was given steroid shots and sent to Duke immediately. On March 30th, 2017 at 25 weeks and 5 days, baby Finley was delivered via emergency C-section weighing 1lb 1oz.
