A Wilson tax preparation business whose proceeds support an affiliated nonprofit group has announced its relocation.
MJL Summerville Tax Services has taken up residence in the Summerville Academy building at 618 Tarboro St. NE. The business is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. during tax season.
Owner Mildred Summervile said the tax prep business was founded to support Tall One Outreach Ministries, the nonprofit she operates that presents the annual Wilson Idol community talent show. Summerville said tax prep profits will support educational programs, the performing arts, scholarships and school supply, toy and food drives.
“Since 2013, Tall One Outreach Ministries has been self-funded, receiving minimal funding in sponsorships and donations,” Summerville said in a news release.
“Therefore, in an effort to have greater impact to meet the needs of more in our community and to have more effective programs for our youth, we are excited about the opportunity that MJLS Tax Services offers as the primary source for funding these programs.”
Office managers at MJL Summerville Tax Services are Lacreashoa (Nicole) Pitt, who can be reached at 252-315-9960, and Maurice Hendricks, who can be reached at 252-327-1913. Walk-ins at the Tarboro Street location are welcome.
