Historic Downtown Wilson will celebrate its second public art day on Saturday, April 27.

A collaboration between Wilson Downtown Development, the Arts Council of Wilson, Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park and Eyes on Main Street, the all-day event Takin' It To The Streeets will showcase public art throughout the downtown.

The community is invited to join in for a multitude of activities including Paint-A-Hydrant, Artsy Alleys, a blues concert at Whirligig Park and the launch of the 2019 Eyes on Main Street outdoor photo festival.

Take a rickshaw ride or a leisurely stroll to view the expanding display of large storefront photos and exhibits from renowned photographers around the world as well as from local schoolchildren.

Spread a blanket on the park lawn and chill to the jazz sounds of the Thomas Taylor Sextet.

Observe the hydrant and alley teams create authentic art to beautify the downtown and draw visitors.

Shop downtown galleries and boutiques to see what other kinds of art you can discover.

The downtown restaurants, food trucks, breweries, tap rooms and bottle shops will satisfy your cravings while you spend the day in Historic Downtown Wilson.

A full schedule of events and activities may be found at HistoricDowntownWilson.com and at the new ExploreWilson.com community calendar.
