Summer camp scholarships are available for deaf and hard of hearing campers to participate in Camp Sertoma for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children June 25-30. The camp is located at Millstone 4-H Center in Ellerbe.
The local Sertoma Club sponsors two campers each year.
Scholarships are available to those who qualify for Camp Sertoma and need financial assistance. Camp Sertoma for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children is a weeklong co-ed residential camp for youth ages 8 to 16 with any type of hearing loss, communication mode or assistive listening technology.
Camp Sertoma also accepts applications from CODA children (hearing Children Of a Deaf Adult or siblings of a deaf child), as long as the hearing CODA camper is able to fluently communicate using American Sign Language.
Detailed camp and scholarship information can be found at www.campsertomaclub.org.
Camp applications must be received by May 1 to qualify for an early-bird discount. Scholarship applications must be received by June 1. A camper must be fully registered for Camp Sertoma to be considered for a camp scholarship.
