The Golden Circle Optimist Club held its annual essay contest in February and the top three essays were presented to club members at their March 7 meeting. Pictured from left are first-place winner Brenner Cobb of Greenfield School, second-place honoree Riley Patterson of Fike High School and third-place finisher Paige Gardner from Wilson Christian School. These top three contestants received certificates and medallions at the meeting, and Cobb's winning essay was entered in the Optimist Club's N.C. East District competition, where the district's overall winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship.
