Three weeks after playing host to a number of high school varsity baseball teams from around the area, Fleming Stadium will open its gates to the junior varsity ranks.
Twelve teams from 11 different schools will take part in the 6th annual Wilson Tobs Junior Varsity Classic, beginning Friday and running through Saturday.
Two games will be played Friday, with four set for Sunday. Charles B. Aycock High is the only team set to participate from The Wilson Times readership area, as the Golden Falcons face off with Cleveland in Saturday’s first game at 10 a.m.
Admission each day is $7, but ticket discounts will apply for fans that bring canned food donations for the Tobs’ “Home Run For Hunger” program. The contents of the donations will go to 14 local food pantries across Wilson County.
Friday’s games begin at 5, with Wake County Home School facing Rocky Mount Academy. At 7:30, D.H. Conley’s freshman team opposes Nash Central.
Following CBA-Cleveland at 10 on Saturday, Rosewood takes on Greenville Rose at 12:30. The DHC freshman will play a second game at 3 versus Wayne Country Day before Conley’s regular JV squad concludes the Classic against Raleigh Cardinal Gibbons at 5:30.
