NASHVILLE — One of the five inmates who escaped from the Nash County Detention Center Monday afternoon was still on the run Tuesday.

The Nash County Sheriff’s Office and Twin County Crime Stoppers are offering a $1,500 reward for any information leading to the capture of 23-year-old Laquaris Rashaad Battle of Castalia.

Officials ask anyone with information to contact the Twin County Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111. Anyone with tips concerning Battle’s location can also call 252-462-2422, 252-462-2656 or Nash County Communications at 252-459-1510.

Two inmates were captured Monday night in Rocky Mount, and the other two were captured early Tuesday morning. Officials said the inmates escaped through “dilapidated” fence wiring and a small door.

No deputies were inside the exercise yard at the time of the escape, and a monitoring camera was turned in a different direction, causing a blind spot, officials said.
