Scott, Santiago hit homers in NJ rout

WENDELL — Sophomore Jordyn Scott and junior Jada Santiago slugged home runs to power the visiting North Johnston High varsity softball team to a 14-2 nonconference romp against Corinth Holders of the 3-A Two Rivers Conference last Friday evening.

The Lady Panthers of the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference banged out 12 hits and scored six runs in the first inning en route to their fourth win against three losses.

Scott connected for a two-run homer in a 3-for-4 showing, while Santiago’s only hit was a three-run homer. Scott scored three runs.

Winning pitcher Amberlynn Pearce, a sophomore, also collected three hits and scored twice. Sophomore Blayke Batten rapped two hits and drove in two runs.

In the circle, Pearce allowed three hits while walking three and striking out six.
