Taking into account the tenor of the season, this writer will not attempt to humiliate or embarrass the writer of “Trump humiliates US on world stage” that appeared in the Dec. 24 edition of The WilsonTimes. I will not do so, as the writer probably does not possess enough self-awareness or awareness of the real world to be embarrassed. One can only be humiliated if one can recognize his errors as such.

The writer slams the president for slighting our erstwhile allies and supporting Putin in some way. Ironically, that same day, an article appeared on the website RedState reporting on how President Trump just dealt a very serious blow to the Russian economy. Through economic sanctions, he halted construction of a pipeline that would have carried Russian natural gas to Germany. That would make Trump the “Worst. Russian. Agent. Ever.”

This is just the latest in a series of sanctions that threaten the Russian economy and chastise our supposed allies who are willing to sell out their allies, us, to get a deal on Russian energy. As the RedState article opines, the job of a U.S. president or any world leader is to see to the interests of his country first and not worry about whether other leaders are gossiping about him like little schoolkids as Trudeau and others recently did while at a conference.

Good for the president, who also happens to be letter-writer Merrell Washington’s president whether or not she appreciates his efforts on her and our behalf. Time for her to start looking for other news sources beyond CNN and MSNBC or NPR and see what is real and perhaps she will not write any more letters that could be embarrassing if she had the wherewithal to be embarrassed.
