Over the last 72-plus hours, we have witnessed the government and media go crazy over the release of the Mueller report. I find it interesting that so many smart people, especially those who believe they are smarter than the rest of us, have missed the real story.

With so much information and opinion being transmitted to tell us what we should think, I believe they have developed a “collusion” groupthink of just two sides and missed what has really happened. The fact is that Russians sought to interfere with the U.S. presidential election by using “bots” to sow discord on both sides of the political spectrum. They have effectively created a division in the U.S. that the government and media have spread trying to support their own bias.

Essentially, the Russians caused the United Stated to become the Divided States as we struggled to cope with an unexpected result of the election. Between the political parties and the media, the seeds of discourse planted by the Russian government have flourished and resulted in an “us versus them” mentality. The result is people “unfriending” each other or not talking about issues because it creates conflict.

What we need is to grab the reins and pull us to a complete, hard stop. The political parties and media need to start telling the real story, how it came to be and what we can do to overcome the damage already done.
