The Wilson Rose Garden held a tour and raffle for prizes and a wonderful chance to see artist painting roses in the bright sunlight of a wonderful Sunday afternoon May 19.
We are from Wilson, from Fike High School way back in the ‘60s, and we visit every few weeks. We have lived in many states. But Wilson calls us home. We may live in Virginia now, close to the grandkids, of course, but, the artist spirit of our “home” draws us in all the time.
There is art everywhere, but none as special on that bright spring Sunday afternoon as taking in the beauty of Wilson’s roses and the artist. We have one of the pieces of art from Wilsonian Jane Mylum Gardner. She caught the spirit of not only the singular beauty of the rose, but the pun and fun of painting a bicycle resting under a sign that read, “Do not pick the roses.”
Each time we visit, we will find time for the Wilson Rose Garden. And may even see that artist paint again.
