A Rocky Mount teenager reportedly was to blame for a wreck that snarled traffic Wednesday on Herring Avenue and seriously injured an Elm City man.

Wilson police responded at 3:47 p.m. to a three-vehicle wreck on Herring Avenue at Dendrology Drive where two pickup trucks and a motorcycle sustained severe damage. Authorities said Cole Sage, 17, failed to stop and rear-ended Robin Nordan’s truck, which was forced into the adjoining lane and struck a motorcycle driven by John Finch.

Finch, 60, of Elm City, was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. Nordan, 51, of Wilson was treated at Wilson Medical Center.

Sage was cited for failure to reduce speed and exceeding the posted speed limit, according to Wilson police.
