John Taylor shared this portrait of Lee Hank Williams, left, and Rudolph Best, who were Wilson's first black police officers. They were hired in 1954. Williams worked for 32 years and retired in 1986. Best was on active duty until his death. The Wilson Times is publishing historical photos of Wilson County life and landmarks in this space each day. To share your snapshots, email the picture and caption to Lori Parrish at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Remember When or bring it to the Times office at 126 Nash St. W. during regular business hours.
