Police are investigating a weekend shooting that left one man injured.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 1100 block of Arrington Avenue in reference to a person who had been shot. When officers arrived, they found 27-year-old Davone R. Anderson suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

Anderson was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and transferred to UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill for treatment of his injuries, police said. He is currently in stable condition, police said Tuesday.

Stroud said the shooting actually happened in the 600 block of Stadium Street. He said Anderson could not provide any information about who shot him.

No arrests have been made yet, but police are actively investigating the case. Stroud said the investigation so far shows that the shooting was not random.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323. Anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
