Police are searching for a Wilson man wanted in connection to a Saturday stabbing that sent another man to the hospital.

Authorities have obtained a warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Anthony M. Woodard on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud.

On Saturday, police responded to a 2:55 a.m. call to Wilson Medical Center regarding a stabbing that occurred in the 1300 block of Nash Street.

Police spoke to the victim, 34-year-old Gregory S. Bynum Jr. of Wilson, who had been stabbed multiple times in the chest area, according to officials.

Bynum told police that Woodard, an acquaintance, was the person who stabbed him, police said.

Bynum was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.

Woodard was still wanted as of press time Monday.

Police ask anyone with information regarding this case or Woodard’s whereabouts to contact the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323. To provide anonymous tips, call Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
