Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Suggs Street at 7:36 p.m. When police arrived, they found 49-year-old Stevie L. Canady of Wilson suffering from a stab wound to his stomach area, police said.

Canady told police he was stabbed during an altercation with people he knew, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud. Canady was taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment.

Stroud said investigating officers interviewed and released several people who were present when they arrived. He said police are continuing to investigate the case.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
