Police are investigating a Sunday shooting that happened in the Waffle House parking lot.

Authorities were dispatched to a 3:22 a.m. shots-fired call at the Tarboro Street restaurant.

A witness told officers a fight occurred between several people in the parking lot and someone started shooting, according to Capt. Eric Smith.

Officers were subsequently dispatched to Wilson Medical Center where an 18-year-old woman was suffering from a small cut to her hand, Smith said. He said the victim’s injuries were reportedly caused by debris from the shooting.

No one else was injured, police said.

Smith said the Wilson Police Department is actively investigating the case and has several leads that are currently being investigated.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255. Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
