Police say a pedestrian died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle on Airport Boulevard.

The 11:23 p.m. crash, which took place in the 3400 block of Airport Boulevard, killed 22-year-old Laclairious W. Avent, according to police.

When officers arrived, they found Avent suffering from life-threatening injuries, according to Sgt. Steve Stroud. He said first responders began lifesaving efforts but Avent died as a result of her injuries at the scene.

The Wilson Police Department’s Strategic Traffic Enforcement Team was called in to conduct an investigation of the crash. The investigation is still ongoing, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call the Wilson Police Department at 252-399-2323 or Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255.
