ZEBULON — Another quality start from pitcher Dylan File ended with a 7-2 victory for the Carolina Mudcats on Sunday as they swept their Single-A Carolina League series against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Five County Stadium.

File pitched a season-high seven innings, scattering eight hits and giving up two runs, both earned, as he evened his record at 3-3. He struck out five and walked none as the Mudcats (22-14) won for the fifth time on this six-game homestand.

An RBI double by Devin Hairston, who was 3 for 4 with two doubles, highlighted the Mudcats’ three-run second inning as they opened up a 5-2 lead on the Pelicans (12-25). Pat McInerney knocked a solo home run in the third inning for the Mudcats, who finished with 13 hits.

Carolina won in dramatic fashion Saturday night as Mario Feliciano delivered a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the Mudcats to a 9-7 victory on “Star Wars Night” at Five County. It was the second longball of the night for Feliciano, who drilled a two-run shot in the eighth and finished with a 3-for-5 showing that included three runs and five RBIs, all career highs.

Tristen Lutz hit his third homer of the season in the first inning for Carolina. Rodrigo Benoit, the fifth Mudcats pitcher, fired a perfect ninth to put himself in line to get the win with Feliciano’s walk-off blast.

The Mudcats hit the road this week with a four-game series in Lynchburg, Virginia, against the Hillcats, starting Monday, followed by a weekend three-game set as the guest of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers.
